Feeling Calm When Entering A New Situation
One thing that tends to give lots of people problems is entering situations that are “new,” as these situations can leave you feeling unsettled, to a point where you enter the situation with a poor mindset for doing well as the situation itself unfolds. While some of us deal with such situations more often than others do, all of us deal with these situations at one point or another – and whether we are entering the first day of a new job, interviewing for a new job, confronting someone with an important question or problem, or simply doing something we have never done before, we can find that it is sometimes difficult to remain calm when entering these situations. One of the biggest keys to feeling calm when entering a new situation is to visualize the situation going well before you enter into it; although this can seem strange at first, visualizing a situation going well will actually increase the likelihood of it going well when you enter the situation itself, as the visualization you did will help you to feel like you are not actually entering a new situation at all! It is also helpful to get “centered” before you enter into a new situation, which means taking the time to narrow your focus so that you are worrying only about the things over which you have control instead of worrying about all the other things around you. And when it comes to things that cause new situations to be difficult, one of the biggest is that people end up overthinking these situations; rather than thinking about all the things that could potentially go wrong in a new situation, focus instead on the desired outcome, as this will help you to bring that desired outcome into reality. Thinking about all the things you should do when entering a new situation can be a bit uncomfortable, but because of the frequency with which all of us enter such situations, having an idea of what you will do in such situations will go a long way in helping these situations turn out how you want them to turn out!
